University of Detroit Mercy
Avenue of Fashion District
Detroit
6:00pm - 5:00pm
The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC), the Michigan Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Detroit Rainbow PUSH Coalition are proud to host the Detroit Black Expo IV: A Weekend of Economic, Networking and Entrepreneurship Empowerment presented by the University of Detroit Mercy. The Detroit Black Expo (DBE) is one of the largest African American Consumer Exposé in the country featuring an expected 200 black-owned businesses, 500 conference participants and 2,000 consumers from July 28 – August 1, 2010. This year our goal is to partner with the community and set the stage for future economic growth and stability within the city of Detroit.

These are critical times in the State of Michigan's economy, but we as a community must support entrepreneurial activity and small business growth. We are also witnessing a tremendous paradigm shift-from a state dominated by the automotive industry towards a more diversified and progressive entrepreneurship environment. African Americans are realizing their consumer buying power and refocusing the dollar to support those who in turn support them. In the state of Michigan, African Americans purchase more than 4.7 billion dollars and represent better than 44,000 black-owned firms; 19,530 of those businesses reside in the city of Detroit alone.

This year's black expo and conference will be unprecedented in its ability to service the corporate community. The DBE will highlight businesses, speakers, workshops, small business resources, and multiple networking opportunities. We are in the business of helping businesses plant their global imprint throughout the great state of Michigan.
