Four Southeast Michigan businesses were ranked among the top 50 fastest-growing companies owned or led by women, according to an annual list released by the New York-based Women Presidents’ Organization and American Express OPEN, the small-business division of American Express.
The companies were required to be privately held businesses in the U.S. or Canada owned or led by women and were ranked using a formula that evaluated revenue growth between 2009 and 2011.
Ranking ninth was the Troy-based staffing company Iconma LLC, owned by Claudine George. In the past two years, revenue has nearly doubled to $103 million. The company, founded in 2000, added 353 employees in the same time frame.
TTi Global Inc., a Rochester Hills-based job training and outsourcing company owned by Lori Blaker, ranked 13th. Its revenue grew from $45 million to $88 million in the past two years.
Strategic Staffing Solutions Inc. ranked 30th, growing from $168 million to $220 million. The global information-technology service provider, founded in 1990 by President and CEO Cynthia Pasky, hired 125 new employees between 2009 and 2011.
The Northville-based health care IT firm Preferred Solutions Inc., led by Marie Seipenko, ranked 40th, increasing revenue from about $4.7 million to $16.8 million.
According to the list, woman-owned businesses account for 29 percent of all companies in the U.S., with the top 50 generating a combined $4 billion in 2011 revenue.
