Compuware Ventures launches news aggregator website
DeadlineDetroit.com, a local news site containing both original reporting and aggregated content, went live this morning.
The site is a portfolio company of Compuware Ventures, the brainchild of Bill McGraw, former Detroit Free Press reporter and columnist and Compuware Corp.’s director of media relations since 2009.
Jeff Wattrick, formerly a blogger for Dyspathy.com and MLive, wrote the original lead story on federal approval for the University of Michigan to fly unmanned aircraft in U.S. airspace.
News of Detroit Tigers slugger Delmon Young’s alleged late-night escapades and arrest in New York in the wee hours Friday warranted a “Page Two” mention.
The site included stories about metro Detroit from WXYZ-Channel 7, the Detroit Free Press, Fox Sports, Bloomberg News and Forbes, and columns by McGraw, former Free Press reporter Allan Lengel and former Time Magazine blogger Darrell Dawsey.
The site’s motto: “Homegrown Media Revolution.”
“We want to make it easier for smart people to stay smart about their community,” wrote McGraw.
