Local and national independent designers will present their seasonal collections to fashion industry professionals, designers and fans for the fourth-annual Detroit Fashion Week, which starts on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Fashion Week spokeswoman Kim Tassie, assistant account executive for John Bailey & Associates Inc., said dates were still up in the air because of scheduling conflicts. But a statement released today said events were scaled-down because of economic challenges.
